Reducing maintenance costs and quality drifts by using a code quality management system

T-Systems Multimedia Solutions (T-Systems MMS) is a leading German internet and multimedia services provider with 700+ employees and an active portfolio of more than 700 projects across industries (telecom, energy, retail, health, public sector). Facing rapid technology changes, growing scale and productivity demands, and the need to enforce company-wide quality standards, MMS created a Code Quality Management center to run regular quality audits and help teams improve maintainability before customer deliveries.

To address these challenges MMS adopted the CAST Application Intelligence Platform in 2005 as a single, multi-language solution for automated, regular analysis (often weekly/biweekly) across varied technologies. CAST reports and “Improvement Protocol” workshops gave objective, actionable metrics and benchmarking, enabling teams to prioritize fixes, measure progress and compare releases. The result: improved application maintainability, reduced future maintenance costs, stronger enforcement of coding standards, greater project visibility and higher customer satisfaction in outsourcing relationships.
