INAIL transforms complex application portfolio with speed and confidence

INAIL, the Italian National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work, asked its Central Digital Organization Directorate to modernize a highly complex portfolio of 700 applications where legacy and partially modernized systems had many hidden interdependencies. They needed an objective way to map cloud maturity, create a confident modernization roadmap and certification model, and produce ISO‑compliant documentation without disrupting services.

INAIL deployed CAST Highlight to automatically assess cloud maturity, software health and open‑source risks and CAST Imaging to generate precise app and data dependency maps, initially on 100 apps and then across the full portfolio integrated into the CI/CD toolchain. The result: teams now govern modernization and cloud migration with consistent, fact‑based data, perform architecture-level what‑if impact analyses, speed decision-making, minimize risk and meet ISO 5055 compliance to reduce operational incidents.
