IBM reduces backlog by 96% in under two months with CAST

The customer, a large public healthcare organization in North America, faced the challenge of modernizing a 40-year-old mainframe application written in a primitive, COBOL-like language. With almost no usable documentation and critical knowledge being lost, the application was extremely difficult to understand. IBM Consulting deployed CAST's Imaging product on-premises to automatically map the application's structures and create a reliable knowledge base.

Using CAST Imaging to ground its AI in deterministic application context, IBM was able to accelerate understanding and translate buried business rules into plain English. This solution enabled IBM to shorten the transition time to under a month. The results included resolving more than 200 tickets and reducing the application backlog by 96% in under two months, allowing for faster support and clearer modernization guidance.
