A global manufacturing company with 95,000 employees, 270 subsidiaries and a $32B revenue base engaged Cognizant to migrate a worldwide portfolio of more than 2,000 diverse applications (Java, .NET, VB, PowerBuilder, COBOL, etc.) to AWS. Cognizant used CAST Highlight to automatically analyze source code for cloud readiness, technical debt and open-source risk, then combined that objective intelligence with custom qualitative surveys to classify apps into seven disposition categories (rehost, replatform, refactor, rearchitect, replace, retire, retain). The team assessed 633 prioritized applications in under 12 weeks (vs. an estimated 6+ months), produced specific remediation actions and effort estimates, identified migration blockers and OSS vulnerabilities, and uncovered cost-saving opportunities (8% targeted for retirement and one for SaaS replacement), enabling confident, accelerated AWS modernization.
