AXA Equitable, a major U.S. life insurance and investment provider managing nearly $540 billion in assets and serving over 3 million clients, needed to accelerate product releases while aggressively cutting costs and controlling risk. With more than 80% of coding done offshore, AXA required stronger process discipline and objective ways to measure partner and project quality to reduce defects and operational exposure.

AXA deployed the CAST Application Intelligence Platform (AIP) to measure code-level quality and partner performance, automate security assessments, and pinpoint performance defects early in development. The platform enabled per-build, automated checks (replacing annual manual reviews), rapid identification of issues (one-day analysis vs. 50 man-days), and concrete cost savings—AXA reports IT budget reductions of more than 35%, eliminated a $64k security cost in an example, and saved roughly $40k on a performance fix—while improving delivery speed and executive visibility into risk.
