Widdop, Bingham & Co. Ltd, a long-established UK wholesaler of giftware, baby gifts, wedding gifts, clocks and home accessories, needed a new Head of Operations to support rapid growth. The role required a senior logistics leader who could manage operations and customer services, restructure the warehouse team, implement and develop a new WMS (Proteus), reduce transport costs, and shape the company’s logistics strategy. Cast UK was brought in to help find the right candidate for this complex, culture-sensitive appointment.

Cast UK managed the assignment on a retained basis, spending time onsite to understand the business, then sourcing candidates through its database and advertising, carrying out psychometric testing and interviews, and supporting the successful hire through his notice period and pre-start site visits. The result was Larry Walls being appointed Head of Operations, and after more than two years in role he had made an exceptional impact, with only one staff departure during his tenure and strong continuity in the business.
