WIVB Launches Restaurant Inspections Database Powered by Caspio

WIVB News 4, Buffalo’s local news leader, faced a civic-information gap: Erie County was the only county in New York without a statewide or county restaurant-inspections database, leaving records for about 3,000 restaurants inaccessible to the public except through Freedom of Information requests. To address this, WIVB obtained inspection data and set out to make it easily searchable and broadly available.

Using Caspio, WIVB launched a user-friendly, mobile-ready restaurant inspections database covering Erie County and seven adjacent counties. The Caspio-powered site lets users filter by county, city/town, restaurant name and violation counts, delivered flawless performance, and drew over 500,000 page views on its first day—positioning WIVB as the only readily available public source for the data.
