PBS Station Creates Auction App in One Hour with Caspio Platform

WLAE, the New Orleans PBS station, runs an annual on-air auction of 42 donated private-school tuitions to raise funds, with a $200,000 target. They needed a reliable web app for volunteers to enter phone bids and to display live highest bids on TV and the web; previous paper, manual HTML updates and an Access database had been cumbersome or failed during broadcast, and building an in-house system exceeded their budget.

Using Caspio’s cloud platform, WLAE built a working auction app within an hour using point-and-click tools, added live charts and reports, and iterated interfaces quickly during testing. The solution let volunteers enter bids in real time and drove on‑screen displays for the broadcast; the station exceeded its goal, raising $215,000, and praised Caspio for ease of use and reliability.
