How A&B Packing Equipment Used Low-Code to Innovate Produce Packaging

A&B Packing Equipment is a Michigan manufacturer of produce cleaning, grading, weighing and packaging machines that grew from a garage startup in 1995 to a 55,000 sq ft facility serving global markets. Rapid expansion created a need to better manage and monitor an increasingly dispersed field workforce; initial attempts to use a traditional remote database suffered access problems, slow performance (notably when uploading photos) and poor real-time visibility.

Senior Field Technician Mike Wood adopted the Caspio low-code platform to quickly build a Field Tech Service Report app and, ultimately, 19 web applications including an online ordering portal, searchable parts database and a scheduling calendar. These apps delivered real-time task monitoring, faster order processing and parts fulfillment, simpler technician scheduling and delegation, and lower maintenance overhead — freeing staff to focus on higher-value work.
