A Fortune 50 company in the telecom sector faced an unstable, costly legacy data pipeline that handled format-preserving encryption and data masking while moving data between Teradata and HDFS on a daily basis. The third-party-built process required constant intervention, and the company needed a more reliable way to support EDW offload and ad hoc analytics using Cask Data’s Cask Hydrator.

Cask Data helped the in-house team rebuild the pipeline with Cask Hydrator, enabling in-flight extraction, encryption, masking, and reload to Teradata while also creating an HDFS copy for Hive queries. The new pipeline was built in five days, was far more stable and easier to manage, reduced costs by offloading complex queries from Teradata, and improved scalability, SLA monitoring, and visibility into failures.
