Metcash - Customer Case Study

Metcash, a leading Australian grocery and liquor wholesaler with $12 billion in annual turnover and over 5,000 employees, faced difficulty managing exceptions across disparate databases and legacy systems that processed roughly $5.4 billion in transactions annually. To address slow, manual exception handling driven by isolated applications and Excel reports, Metcash engaged CaseWare Analytics and its CaseWare Monitor solution.

CaseWare Analytics implemented CaseWare Monitor to continuously consolidate and analyze transactions from multiple sources, automatically alerting staff by e‑mail or SMS when irregularities occur and enabling immediate remediation. The solution improved exception management, provided assurance over internal controls, and—after resolving numerous issues (notably in accounts payable)—delivered quantifiable savings of about $1.8 million.
