Perkins and Will, an interdisciplinary architecture and design firm with 21 studios across North America, needed a way to safely bring employees back to the studio during COVID-19. To support its return-to-work planning and presence tracking, the company used CARTO and its indoor mapping and dashboard tools to create data-driven guidance for social distancing, occupancy, and workspace allocation.

CARTO helped Perkins and Will automate presence tracking and rapidly build private dashboards and apps for stakeholders, including HR. The solution enabled floor occupancy monitoring, workstation and conference room planning, contact tracing support, and faster resource allocation planning—resulting in support for 2,600 employees and a process that was 3x faster.
