Philip Morris International, a leading international tobacco company, wanted to scale its “Our World Is Not an Ashtray” initiative and better understand cigarette butt littering around the world. To do this, it worked with CARTO, alongside Litterati and Cortexia, to assess litter prevalence, identify hotspot areas, and support local clean-up and awareness efforts.
CARTO helped Philip Morris International quickly leverage location intelligence to gather behavioral insights, map problem areas, and monitor anti-littering efforts. The data-driven approach improved their ability to target interventions and measure impact across communities worldwide.
