Case Study: i-Sense achieves clearer COVID-19 response analysis with CARTO

Using Data & Maps to Analyze England's Response to COVID-19

i-sense, a research collaboration focused on early detection of infectious disease outbreaks, needed a better way to interpret the daily and weekly COVID-19 data published by Public Health England, the NHS, and the ONS. The challenge was turning this scattered public information into something clear enough to evaluate England’s response to the pandemic.

With support from CARTO through its Grants for Good program, i-sense built a dashboard to assess the “Find, Test, Trace, Isolate, Support” system using publicly available data in one place. CARTO helped power interactive maps showing positive test estimates and symptom reports, giving researchers a clearer view of where COVID-19 was spreading and supporting faster outbreak control and better data-driven decisions.
