Tecnilógica, a digital agency specializing in web and app design, seized the opportunity to boost brand awareness by creating a timely, data-driven visualization around the high-profile Ashley Madison data leak. The challenge was to quickly turn the raw leak into a compelling, newsworthy visual while protecting privacy — the team spent hours scrubbing identifying information and preparing the dataset for analysis.

Using CARTO, Tecnilógica built a two-layer map — a global heat map of user distribution plus a city-level male/female ratio — working first with a 3M-record subset while scaling to the full dataset. The resulting "Malfideleco" visualization went viral, drawing more than 5.5 million views in under a month (about 2 million in the first 72 hours), generating international inquiries and significant, cost-effective traffic and brand exposure.
