Case Study: ConnectEast achieves streamlined road asset management and improved field safety with CARTO Location Intelligence

A CARTO Case Study

Preview of the ConnectEast Case Study

Improving Road Infrastructure Management with Location Intelligence

ConnectEast operates Melbourne’s 39 km EastLink toll road and is responsible for maintaining over 99,000 assets—from signs and lighting to CCTV and tolling gantries—while meeting strict safety, traffic-flow and government reporting requirements. The organisation relied on a paper-based asset-management workflow that was slow, error-prone and provided no real-time spatial visibility or easy KPI reporting.

NGIS implemented a Location Intelligence solution on the CARTO platform, linking GPS-tagged assets from ConnectEast’s Maximo system to searchable desktop and mobile maps with configurable layers and work-order integration. The result: field crews locate and service assets faster and safer, incident response is accelerated (including environmental impacts), operational efficiency and reporting have improved, and staff-wide use of geospatial insights has increased.
