Improving Mobility Through Crowdsourced Traffic Insights in Madrid

Waze, the world’s largest crowd-sourced navigation and traffic app, needed a better way to work with the City of Madrid to turn open mobility data into useful insights for citizens and drivers. CARTO helped Waze connect with municipal and governmental organizations and support the exchange of traffic and mobility data.

CARTO acted as the key partner translating Madrid’s open data into location intelligence for the Waze–Madrid alliance. The result was a new long-term partnership that helps improve mobility planning, supports better route decisions, and aims to reduce congestion and accidents in a city where about half a million cars enter and exit daily.
