CARTO & Google BigQuery A conversation on the future of GIS

Google invested in geospatial analysis within BigQuery to bring large-scale spatial analytics to its users, overcoming the limits of traditional hardware and software for GIS. In collaboration with CARTO, Google also worked to make commonly needed location data easier to access and use, including administrative boundaries and ZIP code polygons.

CARTO helped implement a cloud-native approach through the CARTO Data Observatory and BigQuery integration, effectively “including the batteries” with ready-to-use geospatial datasets inside Google BigQuery. The result was faster adoption, more new geospatial projects, and growing monthly bytes processed, while users spend far less time preparing data and more time analyzing it.
