Civilization Ventures, a San Francisco-based biotech and healthtech VC firm founded by Shahram Seyedin-Noor in 2017, grew to nearly $100 million in assets under management and backed four unicorns. As the firm scaled, it needed fund administration that was better aligned with its goals than a traditional accounting firm, especially for unpredictable invoices, LP communication, and the demands of working closely with portfolio companies.

Civilization Ventures switched to Carta for fund administration and SPVs, using Carta for fund accounting, investment insights, and LP communications. Shahram Seyedin-Noor said Carta’s team was fast and service-oriented, and the LP portal made it easier to share fund metrics, documents, and performance information. He said Civilization Ventures could not have scaled its fund so quickly without the support of Carta’s platform.
