How VCFA Group scaled their secondaries strategy with Carta

VCFA Group is a private equity firm focused on buying secondary interests in venture capital and growth equity funds, as well as private companies. As it was raising its tenth fund, the firm looked for a fund administration provider that could handle complex fund structures, support a strong LP experience, and free the team to focus more on investing.

VCFA Group chose Carta for fund administration, portfolio valuations, and AML/KYC, along with support for forming and managing SPVs. Carta helped VCFA offload back office work, and the firm said the valuations came surprisingly close to the sale price in two recent exits. VCFA also said Carta made it easier to scale its secondary strategy, improve LP communications, and pitch potential investors for its most recently closed fund.
