How High Circle Ventures used SPVs to launch a VC firm

High Circle Ventures, founded by Hemanth Gollar, started in March 2021 to pool resources from friends and colleagues and buy into private companies at better prices. To launch its VC firm and give accredited investors access to late-stage private deals, it used Carta’s Fund Administration and SPV Management products to form special-purpose vehicles.

With Carta, High Circle Ventures scaled quickly, growing from six SPVs in September 2021 to 14 by January 2022. Its assets under management reached $50 million, its investor base expanded to more than 700 accredited investors, and the firm said it could set up an investor profile and invest in an SPV in about 10 minutes, with returning investors taking about five minutes.
