Education Development Center Teams With Carousel to Implement A Winning Hyperconverged Solution

Education Development Center (EDC), a nonprofit serving education, healthcare, and economic opportunity initiatives across the U.S. and 22 countries, needed to replace aging data center infrastructure. Its Compellent SAN, EMC Data Domain, and HP Blade Center systems were nearing end of life, and EDC turned to Carousel Industries to evaluate a new approach, including SimpliVity’s hyperconverged platform.

With Carousel Industries’ guidance, EDC implemented a SimpliVity-based hyperconverged solution on Cisco UCS, replacing multiple legacy systems with a simpler, more efficient environment. The new setup reduced rack space in the colocation data center, improved backup and disaster recovery with daily full backups and hourly backups for critical systems, and delivered about $100,000 in annual support cost savings, along with better performance for key applications.
