Paragon Metals depended heavily on Excel for budgeting, planning, and reporting, which created manual updates, errors, limited scalability, and siloed information. The finance team needed better reporting by department and location, as well as the ability to drill into data more easily, while senior management wanted real-time access to reports. Paragon Metals also evaluated Adaptive Insights, based on Plex Systems’ recommendation, as it looked for a better way to handle these processes.

Carlson Management Consulting helped Paragon Metals implement Adaptive Planning and structure Plex ERP data for import at the department level. The integration improved planning and reporting, reduced monthly workload, shortened the monthly close, and removed several days from the monthly forecasting and reporting process and at least two full weeks from the annual budget process. Paragon Metals also gained the ability to create budget versions, run what-if analysis, use rolling forecasts, and perform margin analysis.
