Taiyo Technology Singapore Pte Ltd reduces tool correction loops with Carl Zeiss

The customer, Taiyo Technology Singapore Pte Ltd, a plastics manufacturer, faced the challenge of needing to meet high quality standards for injection-molded parts while under significant time pressure. Their tool correction process was inefficient, often requiring multiple rework loops to achieve the desired part quality, as the shrinkage behavior of plastic was difficult to predict accurately. They partnered with vendor Carl Zeiss to find a solution.

Carl Zeiss implemented a solution using their ZEISS METROTOM computed tomography system to capture complete internal and external data from a component and ZEISS REVERSE ENGINEERING software to correct the tool's CAD model. This approach provided a fast, non-destructive, and highly informative inspection process. As a result, Taiyo Technology was able to significantly reduce and shorten the number of iteration loops required for tool correction while still meeting premium quality standards, leading to a faster time to market.
