Preview of the Starrag Case Study

Starrag cuts turbine blade measurement time from 4 minutes 30 seconds to 70 seconds with Carl Zeiss

The customer, Starrag, a Swiss company producing solutions for the aerospace industry, faced the challenge of needing high-precision measurements for turbine blades while also increasing the speed of this process. To address this, they partnered with vendor Carl Zeiss to pilot the ZEISS PRISMO fortis coordinate measuring machine.

Carl Zeiss implemented a solution featuring the ZEISS PRISMO fortis CMM and specialized software, ZEISS CALYPSO and ZEISS INSPECT, designed for analyzing turbine components. The results were a dramatic reduction in measurement time per turbine blade from 4 minutes and 30 seconds to just 70 seconds. This 74% time savings provided greater production flexibility and helped Starrag optimize its manufacturing process, setting new standards in quality control for the aerospace sector.
