INNIO Group cuts particle analysis time to 2 hours with Carl Zeiss

The customer, INNIO Group, a manufacturer of large engines for energy generation, faced the challenge of preventing catastrophic engine damage caused by microscopic metallic "killer particles" contaminating their components. To find the source of these particles, they partnered with vendor Carl Zeiss and implemented the ZEISS EVO scanning electron microscope for analysis.

The solution from Carl Zeiss included the ZEISS EVO microscope equipped with ZEISS Smart Particle Investigator software, which automated the process of analyzing and classifying particles. This provided rapid chemical composition data to trace contamination sources. The results were a dramatic reduction in analysis time from three weeks to under two hours and a decrease in routine filter inspections from 20 per week to just a few, significantly improving production efficiency and reliability.
