Case Study: Breyden achieves sustainable, low-scrap brake disc production with ZEISS ScanBox

A Carl Zeiss Case Study

Preview of the Breyden Case Study

Breyden produces 15 million brake discs a year with Carl Zeiss

Breyden, a European market leader producing 15 million car brake discs annually, was committed to improving the sustainability of its energy-intensive manufacturing process. The company aimed to enhance resource efficiency and reduce scrap. To help achieve these goals, Breyden partnered with Carl Zeiss and implemented the ZEISS ScanBox automated optical measuring system for quality assurance.

The solution from Carl Zeiss involved the ZEISS ScanBox 4105 RC, an automated 3D measuring machine that checks parts during production. This system provides real-time data, allowing for immediate adjustments to the production process. As a result, Breyden has achieved a highly stable manufacturing operation that generates almost no scrap, significantly improving quality and resource efficiency.
