St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital - Customer Case Study

St. Judes Children's Research Hospital needed a storage solution for medical images that would not require replacement during PACS upgrades. They required a system that was easy to manage, cost-effective to scale, and provided dependable, indefinite access to images with configurable disaster recovery capabilities. To address this, they turned to Caringo and implemented their Swarm object storage solution.

The solution involved deploying two Caringo Swarm clusters on IBM servers, with a primary site and a secondary disaster recovery site out of state. This created a storage-agnostic layer integrated with their Intelerad PACS via DeJarnette asset manager, holding three copies of each image at each site for a total of six. The result is a cost-effective, easily expandable archive with integrated DR that allows for storage upgrades independent of the PACS application. The hospital has experienced zero drive failures since implementation.
