Case Study: Dixie Gas & Oil achieves modern, integrated accounting and real-time reporting with Cargas

A Cargas Case Study

Preview of the Dixie Gas & Oil Case Study

Gaining a Competitive Edge with Modern Technology

Dixie Gas & Oil, a family-owned propane and petroleum distributor founded in 1946, was running a UNIX-based, industry-specific system from 1989 that had become inflexible, hard for new staff to learn, and poorly integrated with modern tools like Excel. To modernize accounting and back-office operations and gain faster business insight, Dixie evaluated cloud options and — after working with Cargas and seeing Sage Intacct in use — chose a dual approach: implementing the Cargas Energy delivery/back-office solution alongside Sage Intacct Cloud Accounting.

Cargas implemented its back-office/delivery system integrated with Sage Intacct, enabling daily data transfers between systems, click-to-export reporting, multi-entity management, and recurring automatic journal entries and reversals. As a result, Dixie Gas & Oil dramatically reduced manual data entry and transaction errors, sped up drill-down and reporting for executives with dashboards and flash reports, and gained timely, centralized financial insight to support faster decision-making — benefits made possible through the Cargas–Sage Intacct integration.
