Blue Ridge Healthcare, a not-for-profit community system with hospitals, home health, a retirement community and two long-term care facilities, needed to better utilize its billing software and move to a fully electronic resident medical record. After being told by its previous vendor that an expensive upgrade was required, Blue Ridge Healthcare selected CareVoyant’s long term care solution (going live in January 2006) to manage care plans, orders and MDS assessments across multiple facilities and pay sources through a single integrated resident record.

CareVoyant implemented an integrated suite including the MDS 3.0 module, a point-of-care clinical module with touch-screen ADLs and an Assessment Builder Tool (Blue Ridge created about 25 custom assessments). The solution auto-populates MDS elements, routes ADLs into the MDS and billing, eliminates redundant data entry and removed manual transcription at charting, improving timeliness and documentation quality — measurable gains Blue Ridge attributes directly to CareVoyant.
