Case Study: SCL Health reduces falls and preserves CNA time with Caregility virtual observation

SCL Health - Customer Case Study

SCL Health, now part of Intermountain Healthcare, faced a critical shortage of certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and registered nurses. Their challenge was exacerbated by the need to conserve PPE and reduce room entries during the COVID-19 pandemic. To address this, they partnered with vendor Caregility to implement its iObserver solution for remote patient monitoring.

Caregility's solution involved deploying 41 mobile carts and later pivoting to a centralized observation hub, which allowed a single observer to monitor up to 12 patients across the health system's eight hospitals. This initiative by Caregility successfully reclaimed CNA floor time, reduced patient falls, and achieved significant financial savings and FTE preservation. The program's success also set the stage for new telenursing initiatives.
