Henry County Public School District, a K–12 district in Collinsville, VA serving about 7,600 students, struggled with an outdated, time-consuming way to log medical episodes, medications, and care plans that reduced nurses’ time for direct student care. To solve this, Henry County Public School District adopted the CareDox digital health platform in December 2015 to streamline student medical records and workflows.

CareDox delivered a cloud-hosted, HIPAA- and FERPA-compliant Student Medical Record integrated with the district’s SIS, automated enrollment and reporting, dropdowns for common visit reasons, medication scheduling, and a parent portal. As a result, Henry nurses logged 22,612 medical episodes in 2016, report savings of about 50 seconds per student (up to ~40 minutes per nurse per day), and can compile annual reports in minutes—freeing more time for direct student care.
