United States Postal Service - Customer Case Study

The United States Postal Service faced uncontrolled labor cost growth, excessive headcount, and outdated shift patterns that were not being corrected by years of automation spending. Care Systems, through its parent Planmatics, was brought in to address the labor scheduling problem with a staff level setting and scheduling optimization system.

Care Systems implemented its labor optimization solution at 21 USPS sorting centers, completing the rollout in about 12 months before entering a three-year maintenance phase. The project delivered about a 15% reduction in labor needs at those sites and helped eliminate misallocations by replacing outdated shift structures with more effective labor deployment.
