Versiant Corporation is a Charlotte-based managed services provider that helps customers improve business performance through IT. Because its customers require continuous access to systems and data, Versiant faced the challenge of minimizing downtime and protecting all data against disasters, hardware or power failures, human error and routine maintenance—limitations that many traditional backup approaches could not fully address.

Versiant implemented Carbonite DoubleTake Availability to replicate entire servers (data, applications and system state) in real time to standby machines, using byte-level changes and compression for efficient remote replication. The solution delivers true high availability and rapid failover for dozens of servers across locations, supported a transatlantic migration of ~800 GB of SQL data with only about an hour of downtime, and is simple to deploy and support—resulting in minimized downtime, continuous data protection and strong operational support for Versiant’s customers.
