Royal Roads University reduces concrete embodied carbon by 31% with CarbonCure Technologies

Royal Roads University was constructing a new campus and sought to reduce the environmental impact of its building's concrete foundations. The university partnered with vendor CarbonCure Technologies to incorporate a low-carbon concrete solution into the project.

CarbonCure's technology was implemented by concrete supplier Butler Concrete, which provided over 2,174 cubic metres of CO2-injected concrete. This resulted in a 31% reduction in the embodied carbon of the concrete used, significantly lowering the project's overall carbon footprint. The use of CarbonCure's solution enabled substantial CO2 savings and contributed to the university's sustainability goals for the new facility.
