How Mocoh uses CarbonChain to prepare for the energy transition

Mocoh, a Geneva-headquartered energy and resources trader serving customers across Africa, needed a clearer view of the carbon footprint and intensity of its crude oil and oil product trades. In 2021, it had little to no visibility into supply chain emissions and turned to CarbonChain’s commodity trade carbon accounting software to begin measuring cradle-to-grave greenhouse gas emissions and better understand its climate-related risks and opportunities.

CarbonChain mapped Mocoh’s trade flows, filled data gaps with expert assumptions where needed, and calculated total carbon footprint, trade-level carbon intensity, and asset/activity-level emissions breakdowns. As a result, Mocoh gained verifiable carbon reports for banks and regulators, insights to identify emissions hotspots and lower-carbon logistics or suppliers, and support for ESG strategy, compliance, and future collaboration—while also integrating plans to connect CarbonChain to its Allegro system for faster calculations.
