Case Study: Vitamix achieves 10x more durable nozzle production with Carbon

A Carbon Case Study

Vitamix produces 10x more durable parts at-scale with Carbon

Vitamix, a global leader in high-performance blending equipment, needed to redesign a specialized commercial rinsing nozzle that had originally been built as a six-piece injection-molded assembly. The legacy design was complex, costly to tool, slow to iterate, and had to withstand harsh daily use in foodservice environments, including exposure to bleach and detergents.

Carbon partnered with Vitamix and The Technology House to redesign the nozzle as a single 3D-printed part using Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis technology, M Series printers, and Rigid Polyurethane material. The new nozzle eliminated assembly and tooling, used 30% less material, reduced landed cost by about 33%, cut manual labor by 55%, and proved more than 10x more durable after passing over 1.5 million cycle tests without failure.
