Paragon Creates Peakyshielder, Comfortable Alternative to the Traditional Face Shield

Paragon Rapid Technologies teamed with entrepreneur Duncan Hutchinson to design the Peakyshielder — a lightweight, comfortable face shield that had to work with existing headwear (bump caps, baseball caps and visors), resist cleaners, and reach market quickly during the UK lockdown. To meet those requirements they turned to Carbon, using Carbon RPU 70 as the material and the Carbon DLS™ (Digital Light Synthesis) process to enable durable, chemically resistant clips and fast iteration.

Using Carbon’s DLS process and RPU 70 on a Carbon M2 printer, Paragon iterated five designs within days, eliminated tooling and simplified the clip into a single robust part to reduce assembly and material costs, and tightly nested parts to boost throughput. The result: a UK‑produced Peakyshielder that is comfortable, reusable, fits over eyewear and various hats, and reached market far faster and more cost‑effectively thanks to Carbon’s manufacturing capability.
