Loving Eyes Foundation and Resolution Medical Prevent Childhood Vision Loss With Customized Spectacles

Loving Eyes Foundation (LEF) works to prevent childhood vision loss from craniofacial anomalies such as craniosynostosis but found no high‑quality, customized spectacles that fit their patients. To solve this, LEF partnered with Resolution Medical and the vendor Carbon, leveraging the Carbon Platform and biocompatible RPU 70 material to produce custom, medical‑grade frames for children who otherwise lacked suitable eyewear.

Using CT/MRI‑based 3D head models (and a plan to expand to iPhone scanning), designers create bespoke frame STL files and Resolution Medical rapidly prints them on the Carbon Platform with RPU 70; Carbon’s technology passed biocompatibility testing and enabled turnaround as fast as 72 hours for urgent cases. The result, enabled by Carbon, is impeccably fitting, safe spectacles that restore needed vision for children, delivered quickly and provided free to patients, with plans to scale the workflow to eye care providers.
