Case Study: Legacy Effects achieves faster delivery and high-quality finished parts with Carbon's CLIP technology

A Carbon Case Study

Preview of the Legacy Effects Case Study

Early access to Carbon technology powers Legacy Effects

Legacy Effects, the film‑effects studio behind many memorable characters, faced increasing pressure to deliver highly detailed parts faster as production timelines tightened and conventional 3D printing required extensive finishing. At the Additive Manufacturing Users Group, Legacy Effects engineer Jason Lopes discovered Carbon’s CLIP technology and joined Carbon’s early access program to explore whether it could meet the studio’s need for higher quality and faster turnaround.

Carbon’s CLIP technology produced smooth, production‑ready surfaces that required no body‑shopping, letting Legacy Effects prime and paint parts immediately. More than thirty parts were run for a recent project, with final pieces produced in one run instead of multiple print iterations and a finished prop available by 2 p.m. the next day — enabling Legacy Effects to meet deadlines, avoid offshore mass production, and accelerate workflow without sacrificing quality. Carbon’s solution delivered measurable time savings and higher part fidelity.
