Dynamical 3D achieves 70% cost savings for low-volume production

Dynamical 3D, a Certified Carbon Production Network Partner in Spain, worked with Técnicas Radio Físicas (TRF) to produce radioactivity sensors and faced a common low-volume manufacturing challenge: TRF needed a flexible process that allowed rapid design iterations and used materials robust enough for “hot” laboratory environments, while avoiding the high tooling costs of injection molding. They turned to Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) platform and the EPX 82 epoxy material to meet these needs.

Using Carbon DLS and EPX 82, Dynamical 3D completed prototyping in a day, tightly nested builds to maximize platform efficiency, and printed sets of five unique end-use parts, producing 50 assemblies to date. Carbon’s solution allowed multiple design changes at no extra cost, met strict material and durability requirements, and delivered a measurable 70% cost savings for short- and medium-run production compared with injection molding.
