A Carbon Case Study
Soundz, a South Dakota–based maker of power-sports audio products, needed a high-quality tweeter housing grill with excellent surface texture, fit, strength, UV stability and abrasion resistance — and they had only one week to deliver parts for a major launch at Daytona Bike Week. To meet these requirements they worked with Primary Manufacturing and Carbon, leveraging Carbon’s M1 printers and RPU70 resin to pursue a production-grade 3D printing solution.
Primary used Carbon’s M1 machines with RPU70 and Netfabb-designed supports to print textured, production-ready grills, delivering a functional validation within 24 hours and final parts within a week. By using Carbon’s DLS technology Soundz cut lead time from the typical 3–4 months to days, launched the new speaker at Daytona, sold out during the event, and achieved the required strength, finish and UV/abrasion performance. Carbon’s capability to print final textures directly helped meet aesthetic and reliability targets while preserving the tight schedule.
