The University of Nevada needed to maintain reliable IT infrastructure for its campus while improving student retention and academic outcomes. Working with vendor Carahsoft to deploy Splunk Enterprise, the university repurposed existing LMS and machine data to surface learning signals and identify at‑risk students early in the term.

With Splunk Enterprise delivered through Carahsoft, researchers built clickstream‑based prediction models that flagged roughly 300 students at risk of earning a C or lower and provided early, personalized interventions — one‑third of those students went on to earn an A or B. Carahsoft‑enabled Splunk use also sped IT troubleshooting, maximized system uptime, extended help‑desk hours by 30 weekly hours without additional staff, and indexed alarm data to bolster campus safety.
