The University of Maine System (UMS), a statewide public higher-education system serving 40,000+ students, faculty and staff across seven campuses, needed to replace an aging Liferay CE portal that was struggling with performance, mobile delivery, accessibility and growing multi-campus requirements. Carahsoft was engaged to provide Liferay Enterprise Subscription to modernize the campus portal and support a secure, scalable, multi-tenant solution.

Carahsoft implemented a Liferay Enterprise Edition–based, statewide portal with single sign-on, multi-tenancy and integrations (PeopleSoft, Blackboard, Google Apps), responsive design, custom plugins and centralized role/permissioning. Launched in under 18 months, the new portal cut average page load times by more than 33%, supports 1,500+ roles and 40,000+ users, drove significant increases in mobile usage, and enabled cost-saving centralized services and online training initiatives.
