Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, one of the world’s largest amusement park and resort operators hosting more than 25 million guests annually, needed a way to turn free park Wi‑Fi into a scalable channel for guest engagement, app adoption, and new revenue. Initial deployments lacked a captive portal and Cedar Fair wanted an easy-to-deploy solution that integrated with existing networks, so they selected CaptiveXS as their guest Wi‑Fi/captive‑portal provider.
CaptiveXS was implemented as a plug‑and‑play layer on each park’s Wi‑Fi, delivering a captive portal, content filtering and insertion, analytics, and end‑user management while serving ads, videos and interstitials to drive app downloads and promotions. The results were measurable: about 70,000 daily users in peak season, millions of impressions and pop‑up videos, above‑average click‑through rates, increased app downloads, and a return on investment that exceeded costs in under six months, leading Cedar Fair to expand CaptiveXS to additional parks including California’s Great America and Kings Dominion.
