Trident Medical Center, a 313‑bed HCA hospital in Charleston, needed a reliable way to capture comprehensive ventilator data that followed patients throughout the hospital. Their legacy, fixed-location integration left gaps whenever ventilated patients were moved (for imaging, transport, etc.), forcing respiratory therapists to transcribe measurements manually, risking errors and incomplete EMR records; the hospital also required accurate bedside patient/device association and precise mapping of device outputs into Meditech.

Trident implemented Capsule’s SmartLinx MDIS (Neuron clinical computers running Vitals Stream) to wirelessly connect 22 Maquet SERVO‑i ventilators, using barcode scanning for secure patient/device association and mapping all parameters into the Meditech EMR. The result was immediate, reliable device data flow, easier validation, retrospective trending and reporting of ventilator quality metrics, time savings for therapists, improved clinical insight for physicians and administrators, and better support for utilization and billing.
