Case Study: Marseille European Hospital achieves centralized, reliable ICU alarm management with CapsuleTech SmartLinx MDIS

How Marseille European Hospital discovered the key to managing alarms

Marseille European Hospital, formed by the merger of two major local hospitals, runs a large, modern facility including a 15‑bed ICU and hundreds of staff and practitioners. The ICU faced alarm overload from numerous, heterogeneous medical devices—each capable of emitting many alarm types—creating risk of alarm fatigue and making it difficult to forward meaningful alerts to a decentralized alarm management system.

Capsule’s SmartLinx MDIS provided a vendor‑neutral bridge, decrypting and standardizing device alarms and sending them to the hospital’s Connexall system so alerts appear on a central console and caregivers’ smartphones with workflows determined by severity. The integration—one of the first centralized alarm administrations in France—delivered reliable, traceable alarm data and has already had 80 alarm types selected and configured for clinical use.
