Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) - Customer Case Study

Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), Bolivia’s state-owned oil and gas company, needed a more reliable and efficient way to power remote compressor and pumping stations across a 6,000-kilometer pipeline network. To improve gas and liquid hydrocarbon delivery performance, YPFB Transporte SA turned to Capstone Green Energy and its natural-gas-fueled microturbine technology.

Capstone Green Energy implemented 35 Capstone C65 microturbines at multiple pipeline stations, using raw natural gas from the pipelines to generate onsite electricity. The solution reduced maintenance costs by about 40%, improved uptime and reliability, and helped the systems run continuously for over 15,000 hours; the units were also expected to pay for themselves in roughly five years.
