A Capstone Green Energy Case Study
Vineyard 29, a Napa Valley winery in St. Helena, needed a reliable and efficient way to support wine production, heating, cooling, and cave operations while dealing with cyclical power loads and frequent seasonal outages. The customer worked with Capstone Green Energy and its microturbine technology to improve both operational resilience and energy efficiency.
Capstone Green Energy installed two Capstone C60 microturbines at Vineyard 29 to provide up to 120 kW of power using low-pressure natural gas, while capturing waste heat for trigeneration through a 20-ton absorption chiller. The system delivers backup power during outages and achieved combined cooling, heating, and power efficiency of 64% with utility and 83% internally, with potential operational cost savings of 30–40%.
