Villa Olmi Resort in Florence, Italy, a historic 15th-century property turned luxury hotel, needed reliable energy for a modern hospitality operation while preserving its heritage setting. Capstone Green Energy provided a microturbine-based solution to meet the resort’s needs for heating, cooling, and backup power without disrupting the site’s historic character.

Capstone Green Energy installed three 60kW Capstone C60 microturbines with integrated hot water heat recovery to supply heat for the building and swimming pool, and to drive an absorption chiller for summer cooling. The system also allows Villa Olmi Resort to operate independently of the utility grid during outages, improving resilience for guests while meeting strict preservation requirements monitored by Florence’s monument authorities.
